False Cape Tours

Spend the day or the night in one of the last remaining undeveloped areas along the Atlantic Coast in a converted hunting lodge! Experience nature in a unique, primitive setting. False Cape has several distinct community types: beach, interdunal wetlands, swamp forest, maritime forest, and marsh and is home to over two dozen state-rare plants and animals.

We offer private tours of False Cape State Park. Transportation to and from the Environmental Education Center will be provided. All stays will include guided boat tours of Back Bay, self-guided tours of False Cape, and other activities as announced!

Day Tours

Bus transportation to lodge provided. Lunch provided. One hour boats tours for 3 people at a time throughout the day. Self-guided walks to False Cape beach, Wash Woods cemetery, and other trails. Group size 20+.

Meeting times and location

Meeting times will be announced. Meeting location is the Little Island Park parking lot in SandBridge. Park your car in the southernmost section of the lot. The city of Virginia Beach does charge a fee for parking - $3 for residents and $5 for non-residents. A False Cape State Park ranger will drive you by bus to the park.

What To Bring

Dress for the season. Remember, it is always cooler on the water, especially from September - May. Snacks. Camera. Camera Bag. Water bottle. Sunglasses. Binoculars. Sunscreen. Hat. Insect Repellent. Medications.

Rates

$100 pr/person. Includes transportation to and from park from parking lot, lunch, Back Bay boat tours.

Overnight Tours

Over night trips include transportation to the lodge. 24 hours use of lodge. Lunch, dinner, and breakfast provided. One hour boats tours for 3 people at a time throughout the stay. Ample time for exploring the beach, maritime forest, the abandoned settlement of Wash Woods, and plenty more! Group size up to 24. Other activities may include a watercolor paint session of a picture you took with a local artist, crab picking with Back Bay crabs and/or guided tours by park officials. 

Note - Sleeping arrangements  are dorm-style bunkbeds (see video).
